Recording

Vocal takes and other acoustic sources can be recorded in the "studio". Usually a number of takes will be necessary to produce a single "comp" with all the best bits blended together. Because we cannot yet offer an acoustically treated environment, this is essential to iron out passing widlife and low flying aircraft from the final product.

Guitars and bass can be recorded directy into pre-amp interfaces and then mangled to your heart's content in an infinite number of ways, using top end amp/speaker simulation hardware and software devices. Post processing - chorus, distortion etc is best carried out in the software environment to give maximum control.

Drums can be handled using the Roland HD-1 kit for maximum convenience and complete control over the finished article. Basically, your drummer can play this kit which programs our samplers for deep editing and mixing in the production stage.

Re-Mixing

Bring SFR your own recordings (preferably) in digital format and we can prepare these for mixing. If you are using one of those great multitracker devices and are happy with what you have captured, bring along the raw .wav files and let SFR process, mix and master these at the next level.

If you've been to the local studio and have any budget left (good luck) and you're still not happy with the end result, be it a demo, EP or a whole album, why not let SFR see if they can translate your requirements in a better way. Most times, you just haven't got across what you wanted to hear to the Engineer - maybe we will listen better?

We can easily do inital work with MP3 files and work entirely remotely, just as long as the proper uncompressed files get here for the final polish. SFR will audition your material and happily listen to your brief before attempting an inital rendition - at which point, both parties are under no obligation to proceed. We know our limitations and will tell you if we really cannot help.

Instrumentation

Pretty much every instrument ever conceived can be called up from our samplers and played back via midi keyboard, so if you want to add a Steinway, orchestral section, percussion or drum track, we can do it right here without even loading the Transit.

You may have created your own midi files which we can load straight in, or if we are collaborating (see below) we can become part of your virtual band and write these for your approval

Collaboration

Let's face it, we don't all enjoy the same music or even have the appropriate abilities for certain forms, but if there is a "click" and we can provide creative input in the way a professional producer would, then we have already entered a whole new arena which may involve simply playing for ther hell of it, or even writing a basic contract just in case the material goes platinum.
